Corrections
Truth, Accountability, and South Africa's Stories
At Africa Truth Observer, we are committed to accuracy and transparency in all our reporting. We understand that errors can occur despite our rigorous editorial processes, and we believe in promptly correcting any factual mistakes brought to our attention.
How to Report a Correction
If you have identified an error in our reporting, we encourage you to contact our Corrections Desk immediately. Please send an email to [email protected] with the following information: the article title and publication date, a clear description of the error, the correct information with supporting evidence, and your contact details for follow-up verification.
You may also submit corrections through our online form available on this website, or contact us via phone during business hours at +27 (0)11 XXX XXXX. We aim to acknowledge all correction requests within 24 hours of receipt.
Review and Verification Process
Upon receiving a correction request, our Corrections Editor will review the original article and verify the reported error against our source materials. We conduct independent fact-checking using reliable sources and may contact the original reporter or sources for clarification. This process typically takes 2-5 business days, depending on the complexity of the issue.
Corrections and Clarifications
Once verified, corrections are published promptly at the top of the original article with a clear notation of what was changed and when. A corrections summary is also published in our weekly corrections column. Clarifications are published when information requires additional context rather than correction. We maintain a permanent corrections archive accessible to readers.
Our Commitment
We take all correction requests seriously, whether they concern factual errors, misattributions, or contextual inaccuracies. Corrections are never considered a failure but rather an essential part of our commitment to truth and accountability. We believe transparency about our mistakes strengthens rather than weakens our credibility with our readers and the South African community we serve.
For urgent matters or sensitive corrections, please contact our Editorial Director directly at [email protected].
